After a little more snow at the weekend, slope conditions have improved steadily throughout the week and although high winds rather spoiled off piste opportunities at higher altitudes, in protected areas we have areas of decent powder. Snow and high winds do mean a significant avalanche risk of course, and care must be taken.

We love January; quiet pistes and straight on to lifts everywhere. The new telecabine is a bonus and clients are enjoying the empty slopes under largely sunny skies. Next week, however, is more uncertain.

Tomorrow is forecast to cloud up in the afternoon with weak snow showers during the night, before sunshine returns on Friday. This will be short lived with more cloud expected Saturday which should then clear Sunday and blue skies are expected for the early part of next week. Wednesday and Thursday may well see more cloud again, but this is to be confirmed. Temperatures will be colder than at present and below average for the time of year.

Bit of a yo yo of a forecast, but there is some great skiing available all over the mountain and those arriving at the weekend should be getting suitably excited – we’ll do our bit to make sure everyone enjoys themselves.
