Situated within the Vanoise National Park, in the High Maurienne Valley and close to the border with Italy, VAL CENIS is comprised of the two villages, Lanslevillard and Lanslebourg. These are traditional mountain communities, unspoilt and largely uncommercialised. Great care is being taken to preserve regional identity, and development must conform with conservation of the national park

MGS SKI is based in the upper village of Lanslevillard. This is where the main piste front is situated,
and lifts give access to the whole mountain.
It is here most lessons begin, and where snow based evening entertainment takes place.
As well as a range of shops, bars and restaurants, Lanslevillard has other amenities,
including a cinema, ice rink and pool.
Val Cenis is ideally placed to catch snow from the South, from Italy, as well as
the North and West, when the rest of the French Alps would be affected.
Lanslevillard is at 1450m, and with lifts going up to 2800m, on largely North facing slopes,
snow which falls does not disappear easily but accumulates during the season.
The snow record is excellent from December right through to the end of the season
in mid - late April. Indeed, the 2007 French Championships were held in Val Cenis during
the second week of April, an indication of the reliable late season snow-sure conditions.
Although not as well known in the UK as some of the more commercialised resorts,
the French are very familiar with Val Cenis, not least because it continues to turn out skiers for the
national team.
